How Gibson-Art was born
Let me spend a little time to introduce the two of us. My name is Catherine, I was born and still live nr
A few years ago I bought a friend and work colleague a watercolour set for a painting holiday she was going on. Sadly her husband had beaten me to the punch and already set her up, so the set was going spare and she suggested I make use of it. Although neither of us is particularly arty, we decided to give it a go and duly booked a beginners course. Within a short space of time we realised watercolour wasn’t the medium for us, but we finished the course off anyway.
During the early hours of a semi sleepless night, we sat up watching the legend that was Bob Ross creating a wonderful landscape on canvas. John’s throw away comment of “that looks easy, I’m sure we could do that” lead me to a light bulb moment of what I could get him for Christmas that year. So I trawled the net to see if any courses were available in this country, found a CRI who wasn’t too far away and booked us both on a workshop just before Christmas 2005. We both really enjoyed ourselves and were suitably impressed with our efforts to keep on painting, the rest as they say is history.
I've been so inspired during this journey I decided I would like to train to instructor others. So during the summer of 2007 I joined the Alexander instructor program, I qualified late September and became the first Alexander Certified Instructor in the UK.
So to Mary Ofield who started this all off, I say a big thank you and dedicate this website to you.
